Hi, I’m Porter Averso, a first year Marketing Intern at I.W.Tremont. I have grown up around Tremont and have spent plenty of time working with the team. During my first summer here I worked on the production floor helping to process orders and order packing.   After I elected Marketing as my major at Bryant University in Smithfield RI, I became a first year marketing intern in which I thought it would be great to interview and write about some of the I.W. Tremont team. These are people you may interact with every day in doing business with us. There are a lot more people who work behind the scenes here to make the products that ship all over the world every day.

Although still very early in my college education I’ve decided to work for the family business upon graduation because I would love to represent the third generation of Aversos with the company. My favorite part of working here is working alongside my father Jim, my Uncle Andy, and cousin Andrew who is also working his second year in production.

I think it is really amazing how Tremont can bring their products to market and can handle the volume of production.   I am really fascinated by the technology here and how we are doing new things all the time.  My hope is that this page helps you get to know us better.

When I’m not working or studying, I enjoy spending free time hanging out with friends and my girlfriend, going to the beach and working out at the gym.

SalClear

Salvatore J. Averso

Founder, President & CEO Emeritus,

Deceased 2021

Salvatore founded I.W. Tremont with the same enthusiasm, demand for quality and the highest business ethics as the company demonstrates today. Started in 1979, a particularly challenging economic period in the United States, he clearly demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit that was ahead of his time. When leaving a large international firm with dominance in the analytical filtration industry to start his own company, Sal relied heavily on his strong scientific research background and a work ethic passed down from generations of family business owners. This powerful combination proved to be a successful one that would lead the business well into its second generation and beyond.

Being the proud father of Jim and Andy, he had hoped that one day they and his grandchildren would join him at the company to help realize his vision of what he knew it could be. Sal did get opportunity to work alongside the third generation of Averso’s in the business, albeit briefly as he had an intense battle with a rare cancer to fight, and fight hard he did.   He sadly passed in July of 2021 and is missed every day.
